Congratulations to CDS PhD student Zhouhan Chen, who, along with his advisor and CDS affiliated faculty member Joshua Tucker, recently participated in the AI & Local News Challenge sponsored by the NYC Media Lab, a consortium of universities dedicated to driving innovation within media and technology in New York City. The AI & Local News Challenge offers the opportunity to five startup/university teams to develop projects that address the needs of news organizations. The NYC Media Lab created this initiative to support sustainability and innovation in the journalism industry with artificial intelligence.

Zhouhan’s team will receive a grant of $7,500 to work on their project, the Information Tracer. To combat the spread of misinformation across social media, Zhouhan created the Information Tracer to collect, quantify, and discover information operations across major social media platforms.

To learn more, read Zhouhan’s CDS Guest Editorial piece from last year.
