Professional Opportunities for Data Science Students & Early Grads: Information Sessions with CVS Health, Citi, and Accenture
We recently held company information sessions with CVS Health, Citi, and Accenture. Below we’ve highlighted some key takeaways from each session, particularly regarding professional opportunities offered by each company.
CVS Health
The session was primarily led by Jaime Baccarella, CVS Health Analytics Recruiting Leader who was also accompanied by CVS Health colleagues Jocossa Jefferson, Analytics Recruiter, Sarah Okun, Data Scientist, Yuhao Zhao, Lead Data Scientist, and Raveena Vemula, Lead Data Engineer.
CVS Health is one of the leading health solutions companies in the United States. The company has more than 300,000 employees — including more than 40,000 pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and nurse practitioners. CVS Health has three healthcare segments: Health Care Benefits via Aetna, Pharmacy Services via Caremark, and Retail. Following the company overview, the presentation focused on some projects the analytics team have been working on such as the CAHPS Segmentation Model, Campaign Production Launchpad, and their Health Dashboard.

Citi
The presentation was facilitated by Loraine Nascimento, Vice President, ICG Diversity Program Manager and Julio daGraca, Managing Director, Markets Quantitative Analytics Group of Citi wider Institutional Clients Group.
Citi has over 200,000 employees globally and serves clients in over 200 countries and territories. The company is the largest mover of money in the world. The presentation focused on the function of Markets Quantitative Analysis (MOA) at Citi, which designs models and analytics to assist clients in pricing, hedging, and structuring securities. MOA also provides consultation for managing risk across all market trading units. In the session, the presenters particularly discussed the role of a junior quant. Though tasks can vary from day-to-day, the junior quant could be tasked with developing a new model, analyzing and addressing issues in an existing model, and/or developing optimal hedging strategy for new security.

Accenture
The session was facilitated by Accenture team members Zach Demby, Data Science, Senior Manager, TK Kristiansen, Data Experience Design Associate Director, and Caoilin Donnelly, SDP and CDS alumna of our undergraduate program.

Accenture Innovation Challenge: This helps a non-profit organization solve a business challenge, gain hands-on consulting skills, and network with Accenture leaders. Applications are open through 01/06/2023 for the 2023 challenge with the Smithsonian Institution.
Accenture Student Leadership Program: Their five leadership tracks offer learning series, mentorship, exposure to our culture, and an interview for an internship or full-time position. Applications open through 02/03/2023, and the program runs March-June 2023.
