Professional Opportunities at the NYU Center for Data Science

CDS is growing! Below we’ve provided some information on three open positions we’re prioritizing.

Faculty Fellow

We’re seeking a Faculty Fellow who will work at the intersection of data science and domain sciences. The Fellow will be expected to develop collaborations with faculty at CDS and the wider university. They will lead original research projects of their choosing with impact in one or more scientific domains and in one or more methodological domains (computer science, statistics, and applied mathematics).

This is a full-time, non-tenure position, with a light teaching load of one CDS course per academic year as the primary instructor. The Fellow will also be expected to participate in service activities at CDS such as assisting with the admissions application review process and participating in committee work. Fellows will be offered a competitive salary, benefits, and funds to support research and travel. Appointments will be for two years, and a start date of September 1, 2023 is anticipated.

Clinical Faculty

The Clinical Faculty are able to shape the next generation of data scientists by teaching and coordinating entry-level and advanced-level data science courses at both the undergraduate and MS levels. Topics of courses might include some subset of the following: probability and statistics, statistical modeling, causal inference, machine learning, computer vision, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, “big data”, visualization, and programming for data science.

This Clinical Faculty position is not a tenured or tenured-track position. However, clinical faculty are eligible for promotion within the clinical faculty ranks (Assistant, Associate, Full).

Associate Director of Strategic Initiatives

We’re seeking an Associate Director of Strategic Initiatives to join the CDS Staff team and invigorate our Partners Program.

The Associate Director will play an essential role in enhancing the reputation and reach of CDS. Primary responsibilities include planning, executing, and overseeing CDS’ strategic events, projects, communications, initiatives, industry relations, and public relations. The Associate Director will play a critical role in representing and promoting CDS in internal and external settings. The position is a unique opportunity to make a direct and significant impact on CDS industry relations.
