This entree is a part of our “Meet the Fellow” blog series, which introduces and highlights Faculty Fellows who have recently joined CDS.

Vincent Divol, CDS Faculty Fellow

Meet CDS Faculty Fellow Vincent Divol, who joined us this fall semester. Prior to joining CDS, he completed a PhD from the Université Paris-Saclay; his thesis was on estimator selection in geometric inference. Vincent’s research interests lie at the intersection of geometry, statistics, and optimal transport. More specifically, he has contributed to the recent field of topological data analysis, which focuses on developing techniques to extract topological and geometric information from complex datasets.

“Being a CDS fellow is a unique occasion to interact with people from different backgrounds. My main goal will be to understand the properties of machine learning algorithms using tools from optimal transport,” says Vincent.
