Introducing the NYU Center for Data Science Podcast
The podcast formerly known as the CDS Admissions Podcast is here! Upon its rebrand, the CDS Podcast has shifted focus from primarily highlighting the admissions process to now encompassing topics that are also relevant to undergraduate students and even faculty.
The latest season kicks off by introducing this fall semester’s undergraduate faculty in its inaugural episode “Meet the Fall 2023 Undergraduate Instructors”. The host, CDS Assistant Director of Undergraduate Programs Tim Baker, facilitates brief Q&A’s with each faculty member on their respective courses — we’ve also included the course list with its corresponding instructor below for reference:
- Clinical Assistant Professor & Director of Undergraduate Studies Louis Mittel: Data Science for Everyone
- Clinical Associate Professor of Data Science and Psychology Pascal Wallisch: Principles of Data Science
- CDS Faculty Fellow Bryant Moy: Causal Inference
- Adjunct Professor Parijat Dube: Advanced Topics for Data Science
The interview segments touched on what students can expect to learn from each course and how they can prepare for them. Tim also concluded each interview by asking a non-academic/non-research question. “What is something that you would recommend that students do outside of school/outside of NYU to take advantage of living in New York City?” Each faculty had their own spin of what students should get up to from an extracurricular standpoint but you’ll have to tune in to hear their recommendations.
What can listeners expect next? Stay tuned for interviews with student group leadership and alumni. If you have an idea for an episode you’d like to share, please email Tim Baker.
