PhD Student Boyang Yu

“I’m so excited and grateful to be awarded the Deepmind Fellowship. The best thing about joining a supportive and inspiring community, such as CDS, is that we never run out of brilliant ideas. Just keep an open mind when going deep with data science.” — Boyang Yu

About Boyang’s Background:

Boyang was born in Meizhou, Guangdong, China and grew up in five different cities in the country. Before joining CDS, Boyang studied probability and statistics in the School of Mathematical Science, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC).

Current Focuses and Research:

She is broadly interested in the intersection of machine learning and healthcare, which is also the focus of her research at CDS in the following years. She has spent one summer studying the association between body composition and mortality of lung cancer patients with Professor Junwei Lu at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. She has also worked on proteomics big data at Guomics, Westlake University. During her previous internship at ByteDance, she mainly worked with learning to rank models and graph databases.
