CDS Welcomes New Faculty Fellows, Postdoctoral Researchers, and Research Scientists
Each semester CDS welcomes a cohort of new Faculty Fellows, Postdoctoral Researchers, and Research Scientists to our community, and though this year has been different in so many ways, we are happy that this tradition has stayed the same. In order to welcome these new community members CDS hosted a Early Careers Forum last Friday via Zoom.
The Forum was kicked-off by CDS Director Dr. Julia Kempe’s remarks which specifically welcomed the new fellows and postdocs to CDS. The event continued with presentations from 17 new and current fellows, postdocs, and research scientists covering their academic backgrounds and research expertise. Fields of expertise covered by our early careers cohort are many and varied. Just some of the exciting research areas discussed in the Forum included High Dimensional Statistics, Misinformation, and Task Representation in VR.
After the presentations were finished, everyone was sent into breakout sessions where they were able to officially introduce themselves to the new fellows, discuss each other’s work and make connections with one another.
The event was wrapped up with some closing words by Dr. Kempe and CDS Head of Communications, Emily Mathis Corona. Further networking and community building events are scheduled for later in the semester. Please keep an eye out for more blog coverage of those events here!
