CDS Proudly Sponsors Grace Hopper’s 21st Celebration

2 min readOct 6, 2021

Grace Hopper is considered to be one of the most revered figures in the history of technology. As one of the first women to obtain a doctorate in mathematics, she went on to create the first compiler for computer languages. She was the first female to receive the National Medal of Technology in 1991. To honor her legacy and inspire future generations of women in tech, AnitaB.org, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting women in technology as they develop their highest potential, presented the Grace Hopper Celebration.

This year marks the 21st celebration of Grace Hopper’s legacy as AnitaB.org invites 300+ speakers, offers 200+ sessions, and hosts a career fair. Guest speakers included Ambassador Susan Rice, Domestic Policy Advisor to President Biden, Aparna Bawa, Chief Operating Officer and Interim Chief Legal Officer at Zoom, and Vanessa Pappas, Chief Operating Officer of TikTok.

We are proud to announce that CDS has once again sponsored the Grace Hopper celebration. As a result, we were able to provide complimentary registration to eligible students, faculty, and researchers. During the festival, CDS participants were able to take advantage of several workshops and networking opportunities.

As an attendee, I found myself reflecting on my experience this past week. Some things you can’t get from a Google search or a YouTube video. Grace Hopper provides a unique experience for women to reach their ultimate potential, and I feel like I could capitalize on that.
