1 min readDec 2, 2021

As New York City begins to light up in preparation for the winter festivities, CDS hosted its first annual 5k for Good on November 19th! During the week leading up to the event, the community collected over 75 pounds worth of food donations to deliver to the Bowery Mission for the holiday season.

On the day of the event, there were 29 attendees, including students, faculty, and staff from CDS, who completed the 5k. Participants bonded over apple cider and warm donuts at the finish line.

Kenan Anderson, a senior studying data science and creative writing, shared how much he enjoyed the event. “The CDS 5k was wonderful! It was really awesome to see so many people in the community out supporting Bowery Mission. The cider and donuts at the end were delicious.”

The Bowery Mission is a non-profit organization local to New York that offers services such as food, shelter, and clothing for homeless and hungry New Yorkers. To learn more about the Bowery Mission, details can be found on the Bowery website.
