NYU is welcoming students back to classrooms, library nooks, and the park benches of Washington Square after a summer apart! As students make their way back to campus, CDS is beyond excited for another excellent year of data science research and instruction. In preparation for the new academic year, we compiled a list of helpful resources for our community members.

Updated COVID-19 Guidance

While NYU has fully transitioned back into in-person learning, COVID-19 has not gone away. It is important we continue to follow the appropriate protocols to keep our community healthy. For any questions about COVID-19 guidance visit the COVID-19 Information page, a hub for ongoing pandemic guidance.

This semester, NYU has transitioned away from the Daily Screener and replaced it with Violet Go, a once-and-done access pass. The pass will allow students, faculty, and employees compliant with NYU’s COVID-19 vaccination policy to access NYU buildings and NYU-sponsored activities without the hassle of a daily log-in.

NYU has also updated masking requirements. Masks will continue to be required indoors where in-person attendance is mandatory and exposure to the same individuals is extended over a lengthy period of time such as in classrooms or meetings. Masking is optional in settings involving “transient interactions,” such as riding the elevator, passing through hallways, or residence hall lounges. For more information on masking, please visit the Masks and PPE page.

The Student Health Center and NYU Wellness Exchange

The health and well-being of our students is a priority and NYU has a range of available health-related resources. The Student Health Center (SHC) offers medical and pharmacy services, counseling, and accessibility accommodations for students with disabilities.

The NYU Wellness Exchange is a mental health resource that includes 24-hour support through their hotline and Wellness Exchange app. They also provide counseling services including same-day urgent counseling. The Exchange can be reached at wellness.exchange@nyu.edu.

If you’re wondering how to get involved with our vibrant CDS community, check out our CDS Student Groups page. Get involved with student life by joining the CDS Graduate Student Community-Building Group, the CDS Diversity Affinity Group, the Data Science Club, or Women in Data Science (WiDS).

NYU Student Tech Guide

Whether you’re new to NYU or a returning member, you might have some questions about NYU’s technological tools such as NYU Brightspace, NYU Zoom, or setting up your email. The Student Tech Guide has all the information to get you started!
